Piñon Peak is a one-person consulting practice based in Bozeman, Montana — built on twenty years of writing software, running infrastructure, and helping teams ship.
The name comes from the piñon pine: slow-growing, drought-tolerant, and useful — a tree that thrives in hard country by being efficient with what it has. That's the kind of technology this practice builds. Not the flashiest thing. The thing that works, keeps working, and doesn't waste your time.
The work is technical, but the outcome is human: calmer days, clearer systems, and less of the repetitive work that grinds people down. Whether that's an AI assistant answering routine email for a front office, or a delivery pipeline that stops paging an engineering team at night — the goal is the same.
